Prof. Carlo Monaco is a researcher and aggregate professor in the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences at the University of Bologna, Italy, where he directs the Master's program in Prosthetics and Implant Prosthetics with Advanced Technologies.
He graduated in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics from the University of Bologna in 1992, earned a Master in Dental Materials from the University of Siena in 2000, and completed his PhD in dental materials from the University of Siena in 2005 under Prof. Marco Ferrari; he was also a PhD candidate and visiting researcher at the Division of Cariology, University of Geneva, Switzerland, between 2000 and 2003.
He won first prize for best prosthetic research from the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP) in 2005, 2008, and 2010, received the ConsEuro award in 2008 and the Rochette award in 2016, and has published more than 80 papers and book chapters on composite and ceramic materials in dentistry. He co-authored the textbook Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery around Implants, published by Quintessence, together with Giovanni Zucchelli, Claudio Mazzotti, and Martina Stefanini, reflecting a research collaboration with Prof. Zucchelli spanning more than two decades.
At Dental Leaders Academy, he teaches evidence-based, technology-driven approaches to prosthetic and implant rehabilitation.
