Prof. David Kim, DDS, DMSc, is Associate Professor and Division Head of Periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he also directs the school's Advanced Graduate Program in Periodontology and its Continuing Professional Education activities in the discipline.

His clinical and research focus is tissue engineering and biomaterials for implant site development, an area in which he combines a laboratory-based research program with an active clinical practice.

Dr. Kim earned his DDS from the University of Maryland, then completed his periodontology specialty training and Doctor of Medical Science degree at Harvard. He has received the Balint Orban Research Award and Harvard's Distinguished Faculty awards, and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 25 book chapters on periodontal and implant-related topics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains a clinical practice in Boston.
