Dr. Galip Gurel, DDS, MSc, is the founder and honorary president of EDAD, the Turkish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, and has practiced esthetic dentistry in Istanbul since 1984.
His work focuses on porcelain laminate veneers and esthetic rehabilitation, an area in which he has developed and taught clinical protocols used by restorative dentists internationally.
Dr. Gurel graduated from Istanbul University Dental School in 1981, trained at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, and earned his MSc from Yeditepe University. He served as President of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry from 2011 to 2012, received the Irwin Smigel Prize in Esthetic Dentistry from New York University College of Dentistry in 2014, and authored The Science and Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneers, published by Quintessence in 2003 and translated into 12 languages, a text widely used in esthetic dentistry education.
He holds visiting professor appointments at New York University, the University of Aix-Marseille in France, and Yeditepe University, and serves as editor-in-chief of Quintessence Turkey magazine. He is a member of the American Society for Dental Esthetics and the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and an honorary diplomate of the American Board of Esthetic Dentistry.
