He went on to complete a one-year advanced surgery course under Prof. Massimo Simion in Milan and a Master's degree in Regenerative Surgical Techniques at the University of Pennsylvania.
His clinical focus is implant surgery and bone regeneration, particularly horizontal and vertical guided bone regeneration techniques; he has documented more than 400 cases of vertical bone augmentation.
He is an active member of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO), co-founder of the Piezosurgery Academy, and a regular attendee of American Academy of Implant Dentistry meetings. His research on flap management in bone augmentation has been published in the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, including a 2011 study on lingual flap technique and a 2014 study on coronal advancement of the buccal flap, as well as an article in COIR comparing guided bone regeneration outcomes with different membrane types. He serves as a master teacher in specialization courses on regenerative surgical techniques at the universities of Bologna, Milan, Trieste, Modena, Pisa, and Genoa, and since 2014 has run periodic hands-on training courses in implantology and bone regeneration at his own practice.
At Dental Leaders Academy he teaches these surgical protocols to practicing clinicians.
